Epson
Location: Watford
Activity: Consumer Goods
Our project partner, Office Principles, delivered a transformational 30,000 sq ft headquarters for Epson at The Clarendon Works in Watford, creating a sustainable hybrid workplace that seamlessly blends collaboration spaces with client-facing demonstration areas.
Epson, a Japanese multinational electronics company, specialises in innovative solutions for home and office printing, commercial and industrial printing, manufacturing, and visual technologies. The company sought to transition from a conventional office setup to a modern hybrid working environment.
The renovation prioritised flexibility and collaboration through strategically positioned breakout zones at the workplace’s heart, connected by a central staircase to promote movement between floors. The design challenges traditional corporate layouts with a variety of work settings including wellness rooms, multi-faith spaces, and tiered seating for town hall gatherings. A dedicated customer demonstration space showcases Epson’s products through integrated projection capabilities and display areas.
The project exemplifies sustainable design within the BREEAM Excellent targeted, EPC A-rated building. Features include extensive reuse of existing furniture, environmentally-certified new products, and comprehensive biophilia throughout. The design embraces an informal, timeless palette that complements the building’s industrial character, enhanced by eye-catching graphics produced using Epson’s own printing technology.
SB Workspace supplied key furniture pieces including ergonomic workstations, collaboration areas, tiered seating solutions, breakout furniture, and demonstration space furnishings designed to support Epson’s hybrid working model while maintaining their strong brand identity.
