Our 9-week project transformed 4,500 sq ft at Milton Park headquarters, delivering a complete spatial reconfiguration that prioritises natural light and collaborative culture through innovative furniture solutions.
Benchmark International’s existing 2015 fit out featured an oversized reception area and hidden back-of-house working spaces lacking natural light. The M&A firm needed a modern workspace that would support their collaborative operations while reflecting their global reach.
The transformation centres on a striking structural joinery piece inspired by Oxford’s architectural evolution from Gothic and Baroque to modern rationalist structures. This central feature creates the perfect balance between openness and defined spaces, subdividing the social area from working zones while maintaining visual connections throughout.
The new layout positions staff around the perimeter for maximum natural light access, with meeting rooms and offices strategically located to the south and north. Custom furniture solutions include flexible collaboration zones and a central social spine that connects the entire workplace, replacing the inefficient original reception.
Material selections draw from Oxford’s architectural heritage, incorporating local colours and textures through carefully chosen furniture and finishes. Strong geometric shapes throughout the space reflect the city’s architectural DNA while creating a contemporary environment that supports both focused work and client presentations.
The completed workspace maximises existing space potential through strategic furniture placement and custom joinery, creating clear sightlines and cross-team connections that foster the collaborative culture essential to Benchmark’s M&A operations.
